Commercial tools show how the practice makes money — the hours you work, the value sitting unfinished, and the proposals that turn into engagements.
Logging time
- Go to Commercial → Time.
- Click Log time.
- Pick the client (optional), date, minutes and activity type.
- Enter an hourly rate if you want the value calculated.
- Mark it billable or not.
- Save.
The page shows your billable hours and billable value for the current month.
Work in progress (WIP)
- Go to Commercial → Work in progress.
- Add WIP for a client — a description and an amount (for example, Year-end accounts — in progress, £750).
- WIP shows the unbilled value sitting in the practice, grouped by client.
As work completes:
- Mark an item Ready to invoice.
- Click Create invoice — a draft invoice for that client is created with the WIP amount, and the WIP is marked invoiced.
Tips
- Log time as you go — retrospective logging is never accurate.
- Keep WIP descriptions clear so the invoice reads well when it's created.
- Use the WIP totals to see which clients hold the most unbilled value.
