Year-end and accounts production
Turn a trial balance into reviewed financial statements with adjustments and final sign-off.
Last updated 12/09/2026
Year-end takes a client's trial balance and produces reviewed financial statements — with adjustments and a final sign-off.
Start a year-end
- Go to Accounting → Year-end.
- Click Start a year-end.
- Choose the client.
- Set the year start and year end dates.
- Save — a new run is created in draft.
The workspace
Open the run to see:
- Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet built from the imported trial balance.
- A Balanced indicator that checks assets equal liabilities plus equity.
- An Adjustments panel and status controls.
Adding adjustments
Year-end work usually needs a few adjustments (accruals, prepayments, reclassifications):
- In the Adjustments section, add a description.
- Choose the account from the chart of accounts.
- Choose Debit or Credit and enter the amount.
- Click Add.
Each adjustment updates the statements immediately — add the debit and its contra credit, and the statement stays balanced.
Review and finalise
- When everything is right, move the status to Under review.
- After final review, click Final — this locks the run and records the finalised time.
A final run cannot be edited, so the numbers are preserved exactly as approved.
Tips
- Add the contra entry for every adjustment so the balance sheet stays balanced.
- Finalise only when the figures are agreed — the final state is what gets filed or reported.
- The reports page reflects the same trial balance, so numbers stay consistent everywhere.
